General Conditions of RELA Membership
General Conditions for Becoming a Member of RELA
- Malaysian citizen
- Aged 18 and above
- Good health
Except
- Judges of the Federal and High Courts
- Members of the Cabinet and members of any Parliamentary Council
- Members of any government executive council or any legislative assembly as defined in the constitution
- Commissioned diplomats or consuls and their employees not domiciled in Malaysia
- Persons employed in government service of any member of the Commonwealth other than Malaysia and who are in Malaysia solely due to their employment in such service
- Members serving in the Federal Armed Forces
- Members serving in the volunteer force of the Royal Malaysian Navy
- Local defence force, volunteer force of the Royal Malaysian Air Force
- Members of the police force
- Persons with mental illness as may be defined by any written law for the time being in force in Malaysia
- Persons certified as blind by registered medical practitioners
- Fire and rescue personnel maintained under any written law for the time being in force in Malaysia
- Any other persons or groups of persons as may be exempted from these regulations by order of the minister
