1. What are the guarantees if a member of RELA is involved in an accident?

A RELA member is advised to contribute to the group insurance introduced by RELA at a rate of RM20.00 per year for each individual. This insurance ensures that the RELA member is covered at all times. In addition, a member of RELA is eligible for second class treatment at any government hospital in the event of an accident while on duty. The government will also consider payment of compensation under the National Heroes Trust Fund if a member of RELA perishes while on duty for the country.

2. What welfare benefits are available to a member of RELA?

The welfare of all members of RELA is given priority. They will receive second class treatment at any government hospital in the event of a calamity while on duty. Members will have the opportunity to contribute to the group insurance recommended by RELA. In addition, they will receive gratuity from the RELA Charitable Fund based on the type of calamity experienced. The government has also agreed to provide free insurance to 100,000 active RELA members nationwide as incentive for their contribution. For members who perish while on duty, consideration will be given to enable them to obtain compensation from the National Heroes Trust Fund.
